HCL bags e-governance project in Punjab

Mumbai, January 31: HCL Infosystems has informed the BSE that the company has been awarded one of the most prestigious contracts for establishing the Punjab State wide Area Network (PAWAN).

HCL's specialized expertise in the e-governance vertical made it the primary choice for setting up this backbone infrastructure by Government of Punjab (GOP).

Ajay Chowdhry, chairman & CEO, HCL Infosystems, said: "With a strong focus on system integration as one of our core business areas, Project PAWAN is a strategic contract for HCL in the e-governance vertical. We are glad to partner with Punjab Government for this initiative and are sure that this project will take the benefit of technology down to the grass root level."

With the implementation of Project PAWAN, HCL Infosystems will connect government bodies from approximately 179 blocks across 20 districts in Punjab putting the state on the fast track towards IT proficiency. The network for Punjab Government will be an integrated, fully manageable network enabling citizen services and effective e-governance that is key for any State's development.
