Logica opens Chennai facility, to expand BPO

Leading IT and business solutions company Logica has set up a new facility in Chennai as part of its efforts to ramp up its presence in India.

The company, which is based out of Bangalore, hopes to expand its global delivery model with the start of the new facility that will support its offshored services growth in BPO, remote infrastructure management and application services, a company statement has said.

The new facility is spread across 120,000 sq.ft and has a capacity to seat 1500 staff, which is in addition to the Bangalore facility that can seat 3000 people. The company, which has earmarked close to 16 million dollars to accelerate its offshoring and near-shoring centres, hopes to employ 8000 people at these facilities by end-2009.

Meanwhile, Silicon India News has quoted Logica India CEO Abhay Gupte as saying that they plan to double the headcount as part of the company's dedication to strengthening its presence in India.

Logica employs nearly 40,000 people across the globe working from 36 countries with its India facility providing complete system integration and outsourcing services like system design, applications and product development, application management, infrastructure management and BPO services.
