Software giant Microsoft has awarded a 3 year, $10-million BPO deal to India’s second-largest IT company Infosys. Infosys will provide back-end support such as data processing under the terms of the contract.
This development comes at a time when the US President Obama is vehemently opposing outsourcing of jobs to outside the US says a report in the Economic Times. Apart from this recent BPO deal, Microsoft has outsourced most of its IT and development work to Bangalore-based Mindtree and also recently signed a five-year outsourcing deal with HCL Technologies.
Infosys BPO, a subsidiary of Infosys, is also close to bagging another deal with Alcatel-Lucent. Worth over $15 million over a three year period. The firm will provide back-end support to the European telecom major.
