BT to take back 2000 call center jobs to UK

British Telecom (BT) may be reverting as many as 2000 call center jobs from India back to the United Kingdom. This was announced by the BT CEO Ian Livingston at the group’s annual general meeting.

Livingston however added that this was not because of any service quality issues. A BT spokesperson said, “ This is not about customer service as the service in our operations around the globe is of very similar standards. It is about the effective deployment of our resource. We have opportunities to bring some activities, carried out by our partners, back from outside the UK to permanent BT employees in the UK who are skilled to do this work,” he said.

BT has a significant presence in India where the British telecom giant has a customer service staff of 11,000 employees.
