Infosys BPO, company of the year at BPO industry awards 2008

The third annual business processing industry awards, organized by indiatimes were presented at an elaborate function held in New Delhi. The awards covered eight categories and two jury awards for the CEO of the year and the most significant contributor to the industry. BPOwatch India was the online media partner for the event.

Infosys BPO was named the Company of the year for outstanding performance, being a market leader and having growing revenues on a year on year basis. Other nominees in the category included Citigroup Global, Genpact and Intelenet. Amitabh Chaudhary of Infosys BPO was also declared the CEO of the year.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, minister of state for communications and IT was the chief guest at the event. In his address Scindia praised the Indian youth and the BPO industry which has contributed heavily to the GDP of the country. “What is really commendable is that the BPO industry in India has grown very rapidly and has provided impetus to a large number of other industries.” He also recognized the need for greater support by the government to ensure that the sector continue to flourish.

The jury members comprised of Pradeep Gupta, CMD, Cyber Media group, Raman Roy, CMD, Quatrro BPO Solutions and TK Arun, resident editor of the Economic Times.

-- Award for professional excellence: Chandeep Singh, executive VP, Firstsource

-- Most significant contributor to the industry: Vikram Talwar, CEO, EXL Services
