Currently MT vendors in India employ about 20,000 people and this figure is expected to more than double over the next 2 years.
Kumar believes that the medical transcription industry is here to stay and will slowly move from a labor intensive model to a technology intensive one. “Currently our staff strength stands at 5,500 people, and we have plans to ramp the number to 10,000 in the next 12-18 months,“ says Kumar. “Our focus would be on increasing our operations in Tier 2 cities like Vijaywada, Hubli, and Belgaum, with Australia on our radar for overseas operations,” he adds.
The company also has plans to shift to its new 1000 seater facility coming up in Airoli – Mumbai by July 2009. “We expect rapid growth for the company over the next two years and we’re gearing up for this new phase. We have invested heavily into infrastructure, technology, and most important, people management,” quips Kumar.
